Anko rolls
Not sure how many of you girls have heard of "Anko (Sweet red bean paste)" before. Japanese people DO love Anko (of course there's a certain exception). Although store-bought Anko is convenient and easy to get everywhere, it's not that difficult to make original sweet red bean paste at home.
1. Soak the red beans in generous amount of water overnight.
2. Boil them for a minute and discard the water.
3. Cook them gently with newly filled water until the red beans become tender. Add sugar in your preference.
OK. That's not too complicated step, right? With this homemade Anko, I baked the "Anko rolls," inspired by popular cinnamon rolls (Oh yeah, I'm a huge fan of cinnamon roll!). Since I couldn't help but put plenty of cinnamon whenever I bake sweets, these Anko rolls were fated to be added tons of cinnamon too.
And....Voila! Here you go. Believe me, sweet red bean paste goes quite well with cinnamon spice!

oh, that´s sounds like an easy to make recipie.
i love Anko but i am not quite sure if we can buy the same beans over here too.
Tea. Yeah, you are right. Azuki (beans for Anko) might not be available at your local supermarket...
I'm wondering to make these kind of rolls with sweet potato or squash. I guess this will be "not bad." :)
I've never heard of this delicacy. before
How nice though...beans have protein, so you can have your sweets and protein and the same time....yummm !!
You are totally right! It's a kiiller combo! lol
Ah, but your 餡子 buns look so good!! I've been baking ready-made frozen cinnamon rolls from a nearby bakery. Nowhere near this creative invention...
( ´ ▽ ` )ノ Such a good idea!!
Too bad to hear that your あんパン didn't work well. For me, too, it was difficult to handle あんこ due to its moisture. I wanted to keep some moisture in Anko, because too hard and thick Anko in Anpan is not that tasty. Actually, I'm not sure whether I can make exactly same Anpan again, coz it might have been just the beginner's luck to succeed in my first あんパン. ヽ(´~`;)
