I made these out of the combination of cotton & acryl yarn. I should have made these out of 100% cotton yarn. As you said, that would be the best choice!! :)
A good idea, for me at least, would be to make squares or swatches of different patterns out of cotton......To practise different stitches and make something useful as well!
