One of my new year' resolution is to challenge embroidery/stitch-work. So here is my first work (in progress). Since this is my first try, the stitches are far from perfect as you can obviously see.
This stitchwork is called "Hishi-zashi (literally means "lozenge stitches") in Japan. It is famous in Aomori prefecture, north part of Japan. People there stitches for additional strength on cloth to survive severe winter there.
Although my eyes are burned and my shoulders got really stiff, chances are that I will be loving this stitchwork "Hishi-Zashi." It might require me lots of trials&errors. Once I learned basic skills, I'd like to design the sample pattern on my own. Furthermore, I want to visit Aomori Prefecture to see local people's work on "Hishi-zashi" someday soon.
Well, it's already 4th of January, but not terribly too late to make new year's resolutions. Here we go:
- Make new friends. (Freaky enough, I haven't made friends with anyone for the past several years. Do I freak you out? Sorry...)
- Continue working as a freelancer.
- Keep sewing and knitting.
- Start to learn embroidery or cross stitching.
- Relearn French. (I will not give up this year... at least immediately)
- Try to have some animal protein. (Actually I didn't feel like having meats for the past several years. I can go on without having them as long as I want, but I guess the animal protein is somewhat necessary to maintain our health. During my semi-vegetarian years, I found myself get exhausted so easily. And it seems that the mucous membrane especially around my lips got weaken.)
- Put earlings everyday even if I am at home all the day.
- Go skiing.
- Talk to people.
- Find the right guy.
- Find at least one funny thing per day.
